Privacy Policy

Effective Date: March 1, 2025

At Prudent Cognition, we handle blockchain data every day. That means we understand how important data privacy is — not just as a legal requirement, but as a fundamental trust issue between us and the people who work with us.

This policy explains what information we collect, why we need it, and what we do with it. We've tried to make this readable instead of burying you in legal jargon. If something's unclear, reach out. We're happy to talk.

Information We Collect

Information You Give Us Directly

When you contact us, request a demo, or sign up for our services, we collect what you provide. This usually includes:

  • Your name and company details
  • Email address and phone number
  • Job title and business requirements
  • Any specific questions or technical needs you mention

We only ask for what we need to help you properly. No hidden fields or unnecessary data collection.

Technical Information We Automatically Collect

Like most websites, ours collects some technical data when you visit:

  • IP address and general location (city level, not your exact address)
  • Browser type and operating system
  • Pages you visit and how long you spend on them
  • Referral source (where you came from before landing here)

This helps us understand how people use the site and where we should focus improvements. We're not tracking individuals — we're looking at patterns.

Blockchain Analysis Data

If you're a client using our monitoring services, we process blockchain transaction data. This is pseudonymous public ledger information — we're analyzing wallet addresses and transaction patterns, not personal identities. When you engage our services, we may also collect API keys or read-only access credentials you provide for integration purposes.

How We Use Your Information

We're not in the business of selling data or building advertising profiles. Here's what we actually do with the information we collect:

Purpose What This Means
Service Delivery Running the blockchain monitoring and analysis you requested
Communication Responding to your inquiries and providing technical support
Account Management Setting up and maintaining your access to our platform
Service Improvement Understanding usage patterns to build better tools
Security Detecting unusual activity and preventing unauthorized access

We don't use your data for unrelated marketing campaigns or share it with third parties for their promotional purposes. Period.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers located in Taiwan, with encrypted backups maintained in geographically separate locations. We use industry-standard encryption both in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256).

Our security practices include:

Regular security audits and penetration testing. Access controls with multi-factor authentication for our team. Encrypted database connections and secure API endpoints. Real-time monitoring for suspicious activity. Annual third-party security assessments.

No system is completely impenetrable, but we take this seriously. Our entire business depends on handling sensitive blockchain data responsibly. If we ever experience a data breach that affects you, we'll notify you directly within 72 hours and explain what happened and what we're doing about it.

Data Sharing and Third Parties

We don't sell your information. We work with a small number of service providers who help us run the business:

  • Cloud infrastructure providers for hosting and storage
  • Email service providers for communication delivery
  • Payment processors for billing (they handle card data, we never see it)
  • Analytics tools to understand website usage

These providers are contractually required to protect your data and only use it for the specific services they provide to us. We vet them carefully and review their security practices regularly.

We'll share information with authorities if legally required — for example, in response to a valid court order or to comply with Taiwan's Personal Data Protection Act. We'll notify you if this happens unless legally prohibited from doing so.

Your Rights Under Taiwan Law

Taiwan's Personal Data Protection Act gives you specific rights regarding your information. Here's what you can do and how to do it:

Access Your Data

You can request a copy of all personal information we hold about you. We'll provide this in a readable electronic format within 15 business days. First request each year is free; subsequent requests may incur a reasonable administrative fee.

Correct Inaccurate Information

If something we have on file is wrong, tell us and we'll fix it. For active accounts, you can update most information directly through your account settings.

Request Deletion

You can ask us to delete your personal information. We'll comply unless we have a legitimate reason to keep it (like completing a transaction you requested, resolving disputes, or complying with legal obligations). When we delete data, it's gone from active systems within 30 days and from backups within 90 days.

Restrict Processing

You can ask us to stop processing your data in certain situations — for example, while we're verifying disputed information or if you've objected to processing and we're determining whether we have legitimate grounds to continue.

Data Portability

For data you've provided directly to us, you can request a copy in a structured, machine-readable format that you can transfer to another service provider.

To exercise any of these rights:

Email us at help@prudent-cognition.com with your request. Include enough information for us to verify your identity (we're not handing over account data to random requesters). We'll respond within 15 business days with either the requested information or an explanation if we can't fulfill the request.

Data Retention

We don't keep data longer than necessary. Here's our general approach:

  • Active client data: Kept for the duration of our business relationship plus 90 days
  • Inquiry and contact form data: Deleted after 24 months if no business relationship develops
  • Transaction and billing records: Retained for 7 years to comply with Taiwan tax regulations
  • Technical logs and analytics: Aggregated after 6 months, then deleted after 2 years
  • Blockchain analysis results: Client owns this data; retained according to contract terms

When we delete data, we actually delete it. No "soft deletes" where it sits in a hidden archive indefinitely.

Cookies and Tracking

We use a minimal number of cookies — small text files stored in your browser. Here's what we use and why:

Essential Cookies

These keep the site working. Session management, security features, that kind of thing. You can't really opt out of these without breaking basic functionality.

Analytics Cookies

We use analytics to understand how people use the site — which pages are helpful, where people get confused, that sort of thing. We've configured our analytics to anonymize IP addresses and respect Do Not Track signals.

Managing Cookies

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Check your browser's help section for instructions. Just know that blocking all cookies will probably break some website features.

International Data Transfers

Our primary operations and data storage are based in Taiwan. If you're accessing our services from outside Taiwan, your information will be transferred to and processed in Taiwan, where data protection laws may differ from your home country.

For clients in the European Union or other regions with strict data protection requirements, we can implement additional safeguards like standard contractual clauses. Talk to us about your specific requirements.

Children's Privacy

Our services are designed for businesses and professionals. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If we discover we've accidentally collected such information, we'll delete it immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We'll update this policy occasionally as our practices evolve or regulations change. When we make significant changes, we'll notify active clients by email at least 30 days before the changes take effect.

The "Effective Date" at the top tells you when the current version came into force. We also maintain an archive of previous versions — just ask if you want to see how things have changed.
